With the busy month of October wrapped up for another year, the Biosphere's focus is closing out the year with strong communication. In support of this, we will be hosting a free webinar aimed at providing an insight into the Biosphere and it's functions. The webinar may also provide attendees with a link between their group / organisation and the Biosphere and identify where the reserve can support local communities.

The details of the webinar will be shared here on this website when the final details have been finalised. Elsewhile, our Bats of the Kerry Biosphere Calendar is in print. We were delighted to have recieved such high quality drawings from schools throughout the County from Tralee, to Loughfouder, to Kenmare. The lofty standards are evident in the 14 images selected by our four person judging panel, and the eight runners-up that also feature in the Calendar. The calendar will become available later in November, a limited number of prints will be made available, making the final product a much sought after limited edition!

Our friends over at Killarney Men's Shed have been busy designing and constructing our rainwater planters in support of our Rainwater Planter initiative. The planters will soon be made available for use by us. It will be early Spring when we can plant our plant species in the boxes. We will be foccussing on native species where possible including Yellow Flag Iris, Ragged Robin, and Cuckoo Flower. We are also thrilled to have Féidhlim Harty, FH Wetland Systems on board to help us deliver our programme. Féídhlim will be on hand to deliver on online webinar and in-person workshops in support of our intiative.

Our intriguing Lesser Horseshoe Bat sculpture continues to garner a lot of attention, still sited in Tralee Library. We have yet to name the bat, and we are open to suggestions, although suggestions of Batty McBatface will be ignored!
