January is finally over and whilst our bats and hedgehogs are still in hibernation, here at the Kerry Biosphere we are bright eyed and bushy tailed and ready for new initiatives. We continue with Year Two of the Rainwater Planter Initiative having installed planters in St. Oliver's, Scoil Bhríde Loreto Road, and Loughquitane National Schools. In continuation of the initiative we will be hosting the ever popular Féidhlim Harty for workshop number two, keep an eye out on our social media and this website for updates on the date and location for this workshop.

We will also be seeking two more 'host sites' for rainwater planters, see our recent news items for a description of the planters and why it is very worthwhile installing a planter of your own! Additionally, it's the time of year for fresh funding applications and the Biosphere Officer will be busy applying for funds to support our initiatives. We will be looking to add to our informative literature and aim to spark interest in the natural and cultural heritage of our Biosphere. This year promises to be another productive year in the reserve and we look forward to working with artists, ecologists, archaeologists, and more!
