We were delighted to have printed our calendars from the 'Bats of the Kerry Biosphere Calendar Competition'. We received drawings from all over the County, from as far south as Kenmare, and north to Loughfoder. The standard of entry was very high, the pictures and drawings illustrating the intricate beauty of our bats, and the habitats that support them.

Many pupils opted to draw an individual bat, these portraits were executed with great skill, and an impressive attention to detail. Species such as Lesser Horseshoe Bat, Daubenton's, and Brown Long-eared Bat were well represented. Our bat habitats were represented with impressive depictions of caves, old buildings, woodland, hedgerows, treelines, and even bat boxes! The final product is awash with colour and unique drawings of our bat species. The children that entered the competiton grasped what was asked of them, and executed their task meticulously. It was extremely difficult to choose just 14 for inclusion in the calendar, and eight runner's up. The Biosphere team would like to extend thanks to the pupils and students that took part in our competition, and for your continued support for the Biosphere.
